To Kill the Dog
By [China] Cheng Xianfa
Squatting under the pinasters in front of the temple gate he kills the dog.
He has killed a dog
that a few of the clouds still flutter in theapple of its eyes.
He has killed a dog，whose body only left a skeleton on returning home.
The soft afterglow
is daubing his sharp knif
The music of Buddhism comes out of the temple gate.
After two drops of tears gush from the dog's canthus
It struggles along no longer—
His son,36 years old, razored his hair clean, been just out of jail,
spitting the ring of cigarette,
is looking everything here blankly
Autumn is lorn and majestic, wordless
I want to say: a dog is a rearmost poet under the welkin
and a Guangling Melody of dream
Let it go back into the gloaming , and gad with a lot of longing.
Also let the flaked mbarbaric dogs in our heart
at the sight of such a knifing each time
