#《纽约客》译诗#  詹姆斯.理查森《主谓宾》(James Richardson's "Subject, Verb, Object".  挺好玩儿的诗。
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
SUBJECT, VERB, OBJECT
主谓宾

I is not ego, not the sum
“我”不是自己,不是你
of your unique experiences,
个人经历的总和,
just, democratically,
公平地说,不过是
whoever’s talking,
一个说话的人,
a kind of motel room,
就像旅馆的房间,
yours till the end—
可以说是你的 --
that is, of the sentence.
但到底有个期限。
The language, actually,
其实,这门语言
doesn’t think I’s important,
并没把“我”看得太重,
stressing, even in
就连那么
grandiose utterances—
有气魄的话 ---
e.g., I came
比如“我来,
I saw I conquered—
我见,我征服”---
the other syllables.
也没把“我”重读。
Oh, it’s a technical problem,
哦,当然,这是个
sure, the rhyme
技术问题,
on so-so-open
“果”、“火”、“我”
lie, cry, I
必须押韵,
harder to stitch tight
这可比补好
than the ozone
那臭氧层漏洞
hole in the sky.
还困难。
But worst is its plodding insistence—
但最怕它怎么都不肯停 ---
I, I, I—
“我、我、我”---
somebody huffing uphill,
吭哧吭哧地爬坡,
face red as a stop sign,
脸红得像“停”字牌,
scared by a doctor
有可能被医生吓到了,
or some He She It
也可能意外看见了
surprised in the mirror.
镜子里的“他她它”。

我有些不同理解,试译一下。

SUBJECT, VERB, OBJECT    [美] James Richardson
主谓宾

我不是自我,不是
个人独特经历的总和,
民主地说,不过是
一个说话的人,
一个汽车旅馆的房间,
是你的,直到--
确切地说,句子结束。
其实语言,
并不认为我重要,
即使是伟大的
言论 ---
比如我来
我看见我征服---
强调的是其它音节。
哦,一个技术问题
当然了,给
扯得老远的
处,哭,吾押韵
比补好天空
臭氧层漏洞
还难。
但最可怕的是不懈的坚持 ---
我、我、我---
某人气喘吁吁地爬坡,
脸红得像停车标志牌,
被医生吓坏了
或被某个他她它
在镜子里显得惊讶。

谢谢分享,确实有几处理解不同。忘了说了,这首诗里的I,He, She, It, lie, cry原本都是斜体,可惜排版显示不出来。
