关于济慈，他曾想在自己的墓碑上刻下：

“这里息着一个名字写于水上的人”
而，清风就要拭去名字，
死亡，悔恨于那次凶蛮的屠戮，
死亡，这不死的严冬，
溯游而上，——在时间不留印记的湍流上
浮出水晶般的长卷，镌着
阿多尼斯的名字！

'Here lieth One whose name was writ on water.'
But, ere the breath that could erase it blew,
Death, in remorse for that fell slaughter,
Death, the immortalizing winter, flew
Athwart the stream,—and time’s printless torrent grew _5
A scroll of crystal, blazoning the name
Of Adonais!
