A hater he came and sat by a ditch,
And he took an old cracked lute;
And he sang a song which was more of a screech
‘Gainst a woman that was a brute.

恨歌
一个怀恨的人来了,他坐在坑边,
他取出来一个破烂的旧笛子;
他唱起一首刺耳的歌
诅咒一个狼心狗肺的女人。

需要翻译。只是我没有找到好的表达。原句的大意是:他唱着更像是嘶喊的歌。
more of
— used to say that one way of describing a person or thing is better or more accurate than another

这里显然不是“非常”。这种语言现象很多见。多给你几个例子,供你体会:
more of  to a greater extent or degree:
we see more of Sue these days ; more of a nuisance than it should be
