诗人简介：莎拉·蒂斯代尔（Sara Teasdale, 1884－1933）是美国浪漫派女诗人，生于密苏里洲圣路易斯。没有受过正规教育，但她勤奋好学，自学成才。一度侨居欧洲和中东，1916年定居纽约。1918年她的诗集《恋歌》获美国第一个诗歌普利策奖。她的诗作朴实无华，表达自然流畅，情感娇嫩脆弱，如涓涓流水，纤细而平静，有时在文静之中也蕴藏着几丝感伤，她对感情，对自然，对人生的那份真挚以及多愁善感的心灵，极易引起人们的共鸣。她于1929年与共同生活15年的丈夫离婚，患有肺炎的她几乎是半个残废人，1933年服药自杀。

On a dark lake among mountains in the afternoon shade,
If you have forgotten their wet, sleepy fragrance,

莎拉·蒂斯代尔（1884-1933），美国著名女抒情诗人。同一代巨匠T.S.艾略特一样，蒂斯代尔生于密苏里州的圣路易城，但她的作品风格却于艾略特截然相反，和当时风行的现代主义流派大异其趣。蒂斯代尔的诗歌多为短小精致的抒情诗，或热烈或含蓄，用词细腻婉约，并且忠于传统诗歌在格律上的要求，音韵优美，朗朗上口。因此当盛行一时的各种实验派诗歌因为艰深晦涩渐渐湮没于故纸堆时，蒂斯代尔的作品却保持了超越时代的魅力，深受各年龄层次读者的喜爱。

蒂斯代尔出生于一个传统保守的富商家庭，后嫁于商人为妻，但她与曾经狂热追求她的流浪诗人韦切尔·林赛（Vachel Lindsay）保持了漫长的精神恋爱关系。生活优裕，经历单纯的她从小体弱多病，安静沉思的习惯使她对人生和死亡有着独到的感悟，尤其是对美具有一份格外敏锐的感受力。无论是自然的美妙，还是爱情的悲喜，抑或是命运的无常，都在她的笔下得到细致入微的体现。比喻是蒂斯代尔钟爱的手法，她擅长用文字编制意象，营造气氛，其精妙准确往往有直达人心的效果。在给一位友人的书信中她曾经写到，诗人应尽量使自己的诗歌如火焰般安详、敏捷，如此才能令读者在阅读时立即产生共鸣，并在读完之后不断思索。
