TV Hyperactivity

Now, the harsh noise has been dumped
Into the garbage bag of darkness,
A bus, used up to its shell, is turning around
The February Seventh Tower, feeling
An itch to show spread its fleshy tongue
Out of the TV set. It catches a child like a cabbage
And gulps it, feeling nothing is unusual.
His daily life lacks agitation
But too much volume control against his ears.
He tweaks his nose, holding a cup
Of passion-like orange juice and ends up with
Some gurgles and rumbles. A model
In bikini is diving in his ganglia.
Compared to the barely-covered girl on the screen,
He looks so timid, yet far more
Emotional than a puppeteer. Grouses
Among the people have prettified a cowardly
Peace among government institutions.
Hardly tuned to another channel, he finds himself
Trapped in a hilarious comedy
Of a dustman, a journalist, and a bank manager.
Face-painting does effect a good change:
The manager keeps looking white if he didn't sweep
The snowy street, but the dustman refuses to
Chant the old hymns lest the city should be taken
By garbage. The reporter doesn't bother himself
To control exchange rates; he knows
He lies a lot. Syllogism produces
Nothing. What was stripped off by the dark
Is put on again in the daytime,
But only the clothes see the body,
Lyrists have a crash on sagas and legends only,
While esthetic insights better suit
Market economy. Choose as you want,
Says the stall-keeper, because all you need
Had been ready before you were born,
Despite a little bit flaw. It can be
Explained by your congenital malnutrition.
A remedy, of course, is ready but you need to
Do some exercise, or a cosmetic surgery
For your breasts and nose at a hospital
Before buying yourself a wig.
This suit surely fits you perfectly well.
Ah, clothes always await their lovers
In a way Brodsky once described, "It comes
Among us in search of a caballero."
Riding the horse of goods, the reporter
Blushed in his pants. He badly needed a tour
To local attractions, and probably an affair
With the cable TV. The dustman shakes his head,
Knowing the taste of being kicked out.
For the 56-year-old manager, who has just had
His 50-th birthday cake, repetition is really
A delight of life. His stagnant age
Perfectly keeps pace with the standstill in reform.
You don’t need to lose anything to keep young;
Age should obey the plot of the play.
With the help of the dresser, he would rather
Go back to 1918 to safeguard Lenin
Or act Pavel Kozakin, a railway platelayer,
Than figuring the Yeltsin living on his pension.
While he was dreaming of his Donya,
Her Parisian perfume spread it fragrance.
His present interests show
That he is most congenial to her....
Somebody starts shouting the instant the screen
Turns dark: A tiger attacked at a 220V power line.
Ambulance. Actors in white gown dash out like
An emergency call-out. No. 5 intersection,
No. 6 residential area, general service:
Somebody's suffering from a TV hyperactivity.
